I didn't know much about game development at this point, and I knew nothing about the game engine. The project started in October 2011 because I wanted to work on something and I had been watching play the original game. After everyone's happy that it has everything the original game has (plus a little bit extra, with mod support), then I'll move into beta and begin polishing and adding new content such as expansion packs, and fan favourite community maps, texture packs, and audio packs, made with the soon-to-be-released SDK. My aim with the remake is to allow more people to experience the original game, and hence until beta I am going to be recreating the original game. It is currently in an alpha state, meaning that I've released it to the community in order to help fix all the bugs!
